J.M.P Scholarships
2016-2017 Scholarship information coming soon!!!
Over the years I have been blessed with many things; a great family, a loving wife, a wonderful little boy that loves me, amazing friends, a fulfilling and successful work life and so much more. It takes hard work and dedication in order to be successful in life and to have all the wonderful things I am grateful for. College was an important endeavor in my life and helped with my accomplishments. College was made into a reality when I was blessed to win several scholarships in both music and dance. I told myself that if I ever got the chance I would do something like that for others.
~Jovon Miller
J.M.P scholarships provide kids the opportunity to grow as artists, dancers, and individuals. Jovon Miller has been offering the newly named Joe Northrup Performing Arts Scholarship, now in its 4th year, in order to reach out to kids that have a financial burden and/or a high potential for success in performing arts. Jovon Miller and J.M.P (Jovon Miller Productions) seeks to make a change in the performing arts community by providing opportunities for kids to receive mentorship and real world experiences through the arts.
Joe Northrup Performing Arts Scholarship: Ongoing
Joe “Ninja” Northrup was a dear friend of mine that died in March 2014 of Brain Cancer. He was the definition of a true fighter. A person that never gave up and always tried to see the positive side of things. He reminds me every day to just let the little things go and enjoy life, because without happiness there is no life. He was a true artist and an inspiration to many including his loving wife and daughter. Thank you for inspiring me to be a better person Joe.
This newly named scholarship is an annual scholarship given in Tribute of Joe. The hope of this scholarship is to motivate others to live life as Joe did and to never stop giving up on their dreams.
One hourly private lesson per week from September 1st through June 1st will be provided (excluding room fees) to the dancer who wins the scholarship in any style of their choice of dance including solos. The scholarship is available to anyone ages 16 or younger and to 17-21 year students currently in high school, home-school programs, or college/university.

"Jalen Forward"
Hi I am Jalen Forward, I'm 15 years old and will be a sophomore at Auburn Riverside High School. I grew up playing many sports and started dancing about 7 years ago while I was still playing soccer and basketball. After a couple of years doing both sports and dance I found myself more drawn to dance and realized that was my passion. For the last 3 years I focused mainly on dance. I've trained in hip hop for 7 years and trained in jazz, ballet, and contemporary for 2 years. Tap is a style I haven't been able to train in so I'm very excited and thankful for this opportunity to continue my education and focus on developing in tap. |
2015-2016 "Johnson & Peters Tap Dance Scholarship" recipient
"Tiffany Schlabs"
Johnson & Peters Tap Dance Scholarship: 2015-2016
Cheryl Johnson & Anthony Peters were the two amazing teachers that believed in me enough to provide me a scholarship that allowed me to come train at their wonderful facility in Green Lake for free due to financial burdens. The newly named “Anthony Peters Tap Dance Studio” was a safe haven for me to learn to be creative and open to new ideas. This was the beginning of my dancing journey. Because this scholarship is named after two tap instructors, tap dancers will have a small advantage for this scholarship, but it is still open to all styles.
This scholarship was created when a generous anonymous donor heard about my attempts to help kids and decided to donate an additional $500 scholarship which I will match dollar for dollar. Since my posting of this scholarship the donator has decided to donate an additional $500 for a total of a $1000 donation! My hope for this scholarship is that a new or ongoing donator(s) will help aid me in my vision to help others. Because it is expected to have different amounts donated by different people(s) every year, the title of the scholarship will be changed every year.

My name is Tiffany, I am 16 years old and a senior at Lake Stevens High School. I began dancing 7 years ago as a hobby, but it has grown into much more than that. The first style of dance I ever tried was tap and I immediately fell in love. My favorite styles of dance are tap, lyrical, and contemporary. I have been performing and competing throughout the years and my favorite part of dance is having the ability to challenge and be myself. Dancing has pushed me to strive to be the best I can be with whatever I do and wherever my passion lies. Dance has always helped me to release stress and build up my confidence. Unfortunately, this past year I have been unable to dance due to medical reasons but with the support of my family I know I can overcome any struggle. Earlier in the summer another financial hardship was thrown my families’ way, therefore this scholarship couldn’t have come at a better time. I am so thankful to be able to receive this scholarship and beyond grateful for the generous people who donated. I am eager and greatly appreciate this opportunity to progress in dance with Jovon Miller. |
